Antigua Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer says that, while the country is enduring difficult and challenging times, “the ship of state is moving.”
Spencer was speaking at a public meeting held by his ruling United Progressive Party at Thwaites Corner last week.
The meeting was effectively the soft launch of Spencer’s campaign for the country’s general elections in 2014.
Spencer was joined by Winston Williams, Joanne Massiah, Dr Edmond Mansoor, Dr Errol Cort and Education Minister Dr Jacqui Quinn-Leandro.
“We have to remain firm,” Spencer said. “We have to make sure we defy all the odds. We have to keep the faith. We have to hold the line, my dear people.”
The opposition Antigua Labour Party held a simultaneous meeting at North Street.
“We stand on our record here tonight,” he said.
