The Four Seasons Resort Nevis Just Named Avi Phookan as Its New General Manager

Four Seasons Resort Nevis has a new leader: Avi Phookan, whose career spans high-profile roles from Dubai to Hawaii, has been appointed General Manager of the luxury Caribbean retreat.
Phookan most recently served as General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Lanai in Hawaii, where he guided the resort through a transformation in guest experience and led several award-winning sustainability initiatives. During his tenure, the resort achieved recognition including the Maui Nui Marine Resource Council Gold Award for Reef Safe Landscaping and EarthCheck Certification—both firsts for the property.
“I’m incredibly honoured to join the team at Four Seasons Resort Nevis and to become part of such a storied destination in the Caribbean,” said Phookan. “Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work across cultures and continents, and what I’ve learned is that authentic service, thoughtful leadership and a strong connection to the local environment are universal keys to success. I look forward to applying that philosophy in Nevis—honouring its heritage, supporting the community, and delivering unforgettable guest experiences that reflect both the spirit of the island and the excellence of Four Seasons.”
Phookan’s career includes leadership positions across the Middle East, the United States and the Caribbean, with roles in Dubai, Doha, New Orleans, Charleston and Belize. He has also worked in the region before, at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman and the St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort.
Born in Assam, India, Phookan studied at Institut Hôtelier César Ritz in Switzerland and holds a certification in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell University. He joined Four Seasons in Lanai as Resort Manager before being promoted to General Manager in 2023.
At Four Seasons Resort Nevis, Phookan will oversee guest services, accommodations, culinary programming, spa and wellness, and sustainability initiatives, reinforcing the property’s reputation as one of the Caribbean’s leading luxury resorts.
