Aeroméxico Just Launched a New Daily Flight Between Mexico City and Panama City

From the emerald hills of El Valle to the gleaming towers of Punta Paitilla, Panama is a country that defies simple definition — a crossroads of continents, a global hub with a tropical soul. And now it’s more accessible than ever for travelers from Mexico.

Aeroméxico has launched its new nonstop service between Mexico City and Panama City, restoring a key connection between two of Latin America’s most vibrant capitals. The flight, which operates daily, was celebrated with an official ceremony at Tocumen International Airport — Panama’s central aviation gateway and one of the most connected airports in the Americas.

The new route is the result of a partnership between Aeroméxico, Promtur Panamá, the Panama Tourism Authority, and Tocumen International Airport. The goal: to boost tourism, economic development, and bilateral ties between the two nations.

“The opening of this new route between Mexico City and Panama City reinforces our country’s position as a key hub for air connectivity in the region,” said Gloria De León Zubieta, Panama’s Minister of Tourism. “It reaffirms our status as the Hub of the Americas and opens a new connection to the Mexican market. This not only strengthens visitor arrivals, but also advances our tourism development strategy and has a direct impact on the national economy by allowing more people to discover everything Panama has to offer, whether for business or leisure.”

Tocumen Airport serves more than 90 direct destinations and over 20 airlines — making it a vital link for travelers heading throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Officials see Aeroméxico’s return as a signal of confidence in Panama’s aviation rebound.

“This decision represents not only the reactivation of a strategic route, but also a clear vote of confidence in our country and in the quality of our airport services,” said José Ruiz Blanco, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport.

The route is operated by Boeing 737 aircraft, offering in-flight Wi-Fi, personal entertainment screens, and Sky Interior lighting for a modern travel experience.

As part of Aeroméxico’s joint venture with Delta Air Lines, the new route also expands options for Delta customers across the United States, offering seamless connections to Panama via Mexico City and integrating into the SkyTeam network. For travelers in cities without direct Panama service, it adds a new alternative gateway to the isthmus.
