Barbados Is Getting an Extra Copa Airlines Flight

By: Alexander Britell - May 22, 2025 - 11:05 am

It’s no secret that South and Central America are playing an increasingly important role in Caribbean tourism.

While much of that growth has come in the Dominican Republic and in southern Caribbean destinations like Aruba and Curacao, other islands are staring to see emerging visitor numbers from the continent.

That includes Barbados, where Panama’s Copa Airlines will be adding an extra weekly flight this summer, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Barbados tourism officials revealed at the week’s CHTA Marketplace event in Antigua that the Tocumen Airport-based carrier will be upping its Barbados schedule from four weekly flights to five.

The change will take effect beginning this August.

Copa’s route is not just important for the local Panama market but as a gateway for many source markets across South America.

It’s a boost for an island that saw strong tourism arrivals in 2024.
