It’s the most exciting hotel development of the year in St Maarten: the new Ultimate Adults Only Club at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. And now the property has tapped new leadership to help with the new addition.

The Sonesta Ocean Point Resort and Sonesta Maho Beach Resort have named Eddy Loomans as their new resort manager.

Loomans has more than two decades of experience in hospitality, including in his recent stop as hotel manager of the Sandals La Doc resort in Saint Lucia.

A major component of his role will be launching the property’s new Ultimate Adults Only Club, which is a conversion of the ninth and 10th floors at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. While it’s not a resort-within-a-resort concept, it’s a kind of elevated room concept that includes extra amenities and a new rooftop bar and lounge.

“Managing two all-inclusive resorts with varying features that appeal to different audiences requires an acute sense of know-how,” said Jamie Lee, Vice President Resort Operations of The Maho Group. “His long resume of successfully overseeing operational processes while creating an even better guest experience across luxury and family-friendly properties around the world perfectly positions Loomans as the right person to set a new standard of excellence.”

The two properties have long been the top all-inclusive options on the island, with Ocean Point an adults-only property (where we’ve stayed several times and are big fans) and the Sonesta Maho as more of a family-friendly property. Of course, the addition of the adults-only club is a nod to the growing demand for the adults-only concept across the Caribbean.

“It is an honor to join Sonesta Resorts St. Maarten, where I aim to create an environment that guests and team members alike feel valued and inspired,” said Loomans. “By leveraging my experience in hospitality management, I look forward to enhancing operations and ensuring every stay is memorable as we work together to refine the perfect stay for guests of all ages.”

So what about cost?

The entry-level Ultimate Adults-Only “bay view” room with a king bed has rates stating at $459 per night, according to Sonesta’s website. That goes up to $849 per night for one of the club’s “Loft Suites.”
