US Virgin Islands Tourism Keeps Up Surging Growth

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 21, 2024

It’s been one of the biggest success stories in the Caribbean since the pandemic — and the US Virgin Islands continues to pace the rest of the Caribbean tourism industry.

The US Virgin Islands’ most-popular island, St Thomas, was recently ranked the number one trending domestic destination by Expedia, and the destinations growth is not slowing down.

In March, air arrivals to the US territory showed a whopping 26 percent increase compared to the same month in 2023, according to newly-released data from the US Virgin Islands Department of Tourism.

The numbers were shared during the USVI Hotel & Tourism Association Annual Meeting this week in St Thomas, held at the Ritz-Carlton, St Thomas.

“As partners in tourism, we are always delighted to partake in the Hotel & Tourism Association’s annual meeting to share exciting updates regarding the territory’s progress and the department’s ongoing efforts to continue pushing the USVI as a preeminent Caribbean destination,” said USVI Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte.

“The USVI Hotel & Tourism Association is proud to have a strong collaborative public/private partnership with Commissioner of Tourism Boschulte and his team since the beginning of the Bryan administration,” said Lisa Hamilton, USVI Hotel and Tourism Association President. “Since taking the helm at the Department of Tourism, Commissioner Boschulte has spearheaded several projects and initiatives promoting the U.S. Virgin Islands regionally and globally. The association’s relationship with the Department of Tourism is essential in moving our Virgin Islands brand and businesses forward.”
