Saint Lucia Is Getting a New Luxury Beach Resort

By: Dana Niland - February 21, 2024

Even if you haven’t been to the island, you’ve almost certainly seen Saint Lucia’s most famous imagery — the Pitons, around which stand most of the destination’s most luxurious resorts. In recent years, though, the island’s northern tip has been developing into a new hotspot.

From the renowned Cap Maison resort to the growing collection of Bay Gardens-branded resorts in Rodney Bay to the recently-debuted Point Hardy Golf Club (the first-ever Coore and Crenshaw-designed golf course in the Caribbean), the north is buzzing right now.

Later this year, the area will see another major new addition: the first-ever Destination by Hyatt resort in the Caribbean, with the end-of-2024 debut of the Cas en Bas Beach Resort.

The 90-room resort, the product of a partnership with Wellington Estates, will have what Hyatt calls “one-of-a-kind programming, hyper personalized amenities and dynamic culinary offerings.”

Cas en Bas will be part of the Dream Hotels portfolio, a brand which Hyatt acquired last year.

“We’re honored to collaborate with Wellington Estates to bring the Destination by Hyatt brand to the Caribbean as we continue Hyatt’s commitment to growing its brands in key leisure markets and destinations that matter most to our guests and World of Hyatt members,” said David Kuperberg head of development, Dream Hotels, Hyatt. “Cas en Bas Beach Resort will truly represent the Destination by Hyatt brand, embodying the spirit of St. Lucia and offering an authentic Caribbean lifestyle to travelers seeking to immerse themselves in the breathtaking destination.”

The resort will be a mix of studios and either one or two-bedroom suites, all with “open plan living” and patios or terraces.

The company has tapped Chef Marc Marrone to lead the culinary program. Amenities at the resort will range from a spa to a large pool to a beach club and a rooftop bar. That’s along with other touches like in-house cars to shepherd guests to nearby Rodney Bay and enjoy the island’s most energetic corner.

The idea for Cas en Bas is a different kind of resort for Saint Lucia, something a bit more modern and contemporary, said Edward Wellington, CEO of Wellington Estates.

“We are excited to be working with Hyatt to bring this world-class, cosmopolitan island retreat to life,” he said.
