A New “Toes in the Sand” Caribbean Hotel in St Barth

By: Alexander Britell - January 22, 2024

If you’ve been to St Barth, you know St Jean: that picturesque, sugar-white stretch of beach and turquoise water that’s the essence of French Caribbean cool.

For the last few years, St Jean has seen one hotspot become particularly popular: Gyp Sea, a sought-after beach club and bar right on the sand.

Now, the Gyp Sea concept has expanded with a new concept: a boutique collection of “beach houses” that offer an unmatched opportunity to savor the beauty of St Barth’s most famous stretch of beach.

It’s a toes-in-the-sand boutique hotel called the Gyp Sea Beach Houses, a collection of direct-beachfront cottages set directly on the beach in St Jean, with each property boasting a private pool, curated local artwork and, most importantly, direct beach access.

The villas, which just launched, include Sunset Corail, Bohemian Blue, Wild Banana and Coco Mango.

Guests at the Beach Houses will have access to dedicated Gyp Sea staff, who will be on hand to “curate a variety of personalized experiences.” That ranges from private beachside dinners to watersports.

Beach House guests will also have daily housekeeping and daily breakfast right in their cottages.

It’s an extension of the popular Gyp Sea Beach Club, which has sunbeds, delicious tropical cocktails and locale-inspired French Caribbean dishes – along with a pool for cooling off.
