They’re different. They’re fun, they’re colorful, they’re unique. They’re themselves. The Caribbean has no shortage of cool hotels and in this, Caribbean Journal’s 12th annual Cool List, we highlight the places that hit you in a different way, that do their own thing and make you feel inevitably, endlessly, impossibly, cool.

From beachfront hideaways in Eleuthera to tucked-away boutiques in French St Martin, you’ll find our favorite. So how do we define “cool,” a word that always defies definition? Well, let’s just say, you know it when you see it.

Enjoy the 2024 edition of the CJ Cool List.

There’s everything: a hip cocktail bar in a former troops’ barracks, a “rum and wine cellar,” an art gallery and an all-inclusive program that helps you dive right into the island’s local culture and environment.
