St Maarten-Based Airline Winair Just Expanded

St Maarten-based Caribbean airline Winair has expanded, Caribbean Journal has learned. 

The popular regional carrier has added a second ATR 42-500 aircraft, which arrived this week at Princess Juliana International Airport. 

Winair will be starting its winter schedule with two ATRs, the company confirmed. 

“We are excited to welcome our second ATR 42-500 aircraft to the fleet,” said Hans van de Velde, CEO of WINAIR. “The first ATR has been operating very well since its launch in July, and our customers have been impressed with the comfort and on time performance of the aircraft. With the addition of the second ATR, we will be able to offer our customers more frequencies to our destinations, especially Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire will see an increase of flights.”

The new aircraft will mean “more frequencies and amazing low fares,” the company said in a statement. 

The Winair fleet now includes four Twin Otters and two ATRs. 

“St Maarten is in a great positon to further grow the economy in a sustainable way,” the company said. 

Winair will be releasing its new schedule soon. The company’s network includes flights to destinations like St Barth, Saba, Statia, Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, among others.
