Delta Set to Launch Big Expansion of Nonstop Flights to The Bahamas

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 23, 2023

Green Turtle Cay. Harbour Island. Staniel Cay.

They’re the kinds of tiny islands travelers dream of — but getting to them is not always so easy.

Thanks to a major expansion by Delta Air Lines, however, destinations like these in the Out Islands of The Bahamas are getting a big boost.

The carrier is adding more service to four different islands in the 700-island archipelago: New Providence (home to the country’s capital, Nassau), Marsh Harbour, Abaco; Great Exuma, Exuma; and North Eleuthera International Airport.

Each of the routes will be flying out of Delta’s hub at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, rolling out beginning Nov. 5.

Atlanta continues to prove a strong source market for tourism in The Bahamas; visitors from Atlanta are already up nearly 35 percent year-over-year, according to the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister, Chester Cooper.

Atlanta-Eleuthera routes will be operating three-times per week in November before expanding to daily service through the festive season.

Atlanta-Marsh Harbour flights will run five times per week, with service on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Exuma service will be running five times per week, with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

As for Nassau service, those flights will be running daily, according to Delta.com.

Later this year, Delta will also be adding an important new nonstop route between Miami and Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport.
