By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 10, 2023

Southwest Airlines just launched a new nonstop flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Caribbean Journal has confirmed.

The carrier has kicked off weekly nonstop service between Kansas City International Airport and Montego Bay’s recently-upgraded Sangster International Airport.

It’s another boost for what is expected to be a banner autumn season for the island of Jamaica, which has been seeing record-breaking tourism arrivals so far in 2023.

Southwest also just added new weekly service between Kansas City and San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.

“We are proud to work with Southwest Airlines to expand domestic and international service out of Kansas City and expect more exciting new flight announcements ahead,” said Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. “Kansas Citians are excited to travel to beautiful destinations including Cabo, Jamaica, and so many more. I am thrilled to see this announcement and thank Southwest for its continued investment in Kansas City.”

It’s part of a broader Caribbean expansion for Southwest in Kansas City that includes enhanced service to Cancun on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

Kansas City-Cancun flights are now operating daily for the high season.

Jamaica welcomed just under 700,000 stayover visitors in the third quarter, its 10th consecutive quarter of positive year-over-year tourism growth.
