A New Way to Fly to St Maarten in Style

By: Alexander Britell - September 16, 2023

The St Martin-St Barth-Anguilla triangle is home to some of the most luxurious villas and resorts in all of the Caribbean.

But getting to St Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport isn’t quite so luxurious an experience, even if you’re in business class on major carriers like American Airlines or United.

But La Compagnie, the company that famously introduced all business-class flights between New York and Paris, is looking to change that.

The airline, in partnership with a travel company called Travel in Style Journeys, will be launching business class-only service between Newark and St Martin this fall.

For the ultimate experience on any of these three islands, there’s nothing quite like a villa, and La Compagnie and Travel in Style Journeys are a strategic partner with WIMCO, the leading villa provider on all three islands.

WIMCO has an impressive slate of villas available in both Anguilla and St Martin, along with its stronghold in St Barth.

The companies are also partnering with a number of hotel partners in Anguilla, St Martin and St Barth.

“This new business class service from Newark connects seamlessly with inter-island flights to St Barts”, said Stiles Bennet, president of leading villa rental company WIMCO St Barth Properties. “We can book clients on this route, then arrange VIP transfer service (bypassing long lines at customs and immigration) to either private plane or helicopter charters, or scheduled service to St Barts from Win-Air, St Barth Commuter. It is going to make transiting through the airport in St Martin 100 percent better for our clients.”

Travel in Style Journeys’ services include roundtrip area travel between Newark and St Maarten, VIP airport service and all transfers between the airport and the hotel, including St Barth and Anguilla boat or plane transfers as necessary.

The program will be running between mid-November and April 2024, focusing on seven-night vacations but also open to either 14 or 21-night stays, according to the company.

La Compagnie is operating the service on Airbus A321 Neo aircraft with just 76 seats – all of which are business class, all of which are lie-flat seats. Meals and beverages are served in-flight. Even better? Customers can bring two pieces of checked luggages, with a maximum of 70 pounds each.
