St Kitts Tourism Set for Sizzling Fall Season

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - September 9, 2023

While many destinations in the Caribbean tend to cool down in the autumn, one Caribbean island is set for an energy-filled season.

St Kitts, fresh off a thriving summer, is readying for a big fourth quarter — one that will include JetBlue’s first-ever flights to the island.

It was a busy summer on the island, from the ever-popular St Kitts Music Festival to a successful Restaurant Week and a bustling Culturama festival in Nevis. The island launched a major push called Summer of Fun, one that concluded with the recent Caribbean Premier League cricket matches.

Now, St Kitts is preparing for what is expected to be a busy fall.

“We are truly delighted by the success of the Summer of Fun initiatives, which have contributed significantly to the goal of making St. Kitts a year-round destination,” said Ellison “Tommy” Thompson, CEO of The St. Kitts Tourism Authority.  “Airlift numbers have shown remarkable improvement for the summer, and we anticipate this positive trend to continue into the fall, bolstered by the introduction of a new JetBlue route and increased capacity from our traditional carriers.”

JetBlue will soon be launching its first New York-St Kitts flights, with plans for three flights each week.

That will come along with an expansion to the island by United Airlines and a further ramp-up by Air Canada, which is increasing seat capacity by 66 percent to St Kitts.

American Airlines, Delta and British Airways are all returning for the fall, as tourism officials say the island is “poised to increase stayover visitation” for the fall and the peak winter season.

“A true year-round destination, St. Kitts continues to impress visitors across the globe with its endless opportunities for adventure that beckons travellers to venture deeper into its lush greenery and pristine waters,” the St Kitts Tourism Authority said in a statement.
