New Dominican Republic Airline Set to Begin Operations

A new Dominican Republic-based airline is set to begin operations this month. 

Arajet, an ultra-low-cost carrier headquartered in Santo Domingo, will begin flights on Sept. 15. 

The carrier will start off with routes to Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Peru and other Caribbean destinations. 

The Caribbean destinations include Aruba, Curacao, St Maarten, Cartagena and Barranquilla, according to the company’s Web site. 

Arajet is also expected to add a new route soon between the Dominican Republic and Guatemala City, Guatemala. 

That route is expected to begin on Sept. 28, the company said.
