Anguilla Is Making a Bigger Push With Latin America’s Luxury Travel Advisors
The island’s first opening-session sponsorship at Virtuoso On Tour Latin America put its beaches, hotels and culinary experiences in front of more than 300 travel professionals.
Anguilla is expanding its outreach to Latin America’s luxury travel trade, using a prominent role at Virtuoso On Tour Latin America to introduce more advisors to the island and develop relationships with agencies serving affluent clients.
The Anguilla Tourist Board sponsored the event’s opening general session for the first time, presenting the destination to more than 300 travel professionals during the October 27–29 gathering in Rio de Janeiro.
The presentation was followed by nearly 50 one-on-one appointments with advisors and agencies, giving the tourist board a more direct opportunity to discuss accommodations, curated itineraries and experiences suited to their clients.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to diversify Anguilla’s source markets and increase its visibility within influential luxury travel networks.
A Destination Introduction With a Sales Focus
Chantelle Richardson, deputy director of tourism for the Anguilla Tourist Board, delivered the opening presentation, highlighting the island’s 33 white-sand beaches, accommodations, culinary scene and personalized hospitality.
The presentation also emphasized romance, family experiences and Anguilla’s relaxed approach to luxury — giving advisors several ways to position the destination according to a client’s priorities.
“Our first destination presentation at the opening general session of Virtuoso On Tour Latin America marked an important milestone in strengthening Anguilla’s positioning within the luxury travel market,” Richardson said.
The focus extended beyond introducing the island. The subsequent appointments provided time to discuss accommodation partners and itinerary options, helping advisors connect the destination presentation with specific vacation requests.
That progression, from a general introduction to individual conversations, gave the tourist board an opportunity to learn more about the clients these agencies serve and discuss how Anguilla could fit their Caribbean recommendations.
Selling the Experience Beyond the Hotel
The tourist board’s message centered on the combination of beaches, food and hospitality, with experiences beyond the room forming a substantial part of the presentation.
Richardson pointed to family time, beachfront lunches and personalized service as elements of the island’s luxury offering. For advisors, those are starting points for a more detailed client conversation: whether the priority is a romantic escape, a family vacation or a stay with time devoted to exploring local restaurants.
Anguilla’s resort portfolio gives advisors another part of that discussion, while the Rio appointments allowed the tourist board to address accommodation choices alongside the wider destination experience.
The practical selling opportunity is to connect those components into a coherent itinerary. A hotel recommendation can be accompanied by a clearer explanation of how clients will spend their days, where food fits into the vacation and what kind of service they can expect.
Another Step in Anguilla’s Advisor Outreach
The Latin American initiative follows Anguilla’s continued engagement with the luxury travel trade, including its participation in Virtuoso Travel Week.
The Rio event extended that relationship development into another regional market. Sponsoring the opening session secured broad exposure, while the individual appointments created opportunities for more specific discussions with prospective trade partners.
For Caribbean travel advisors, the announcement underscores the tourist board’s emphasis on the agency channel as it seeks a more diverse visitor base. The next stage will be following up with the professionals who attended and developing the relationships introduced during the event.
“Our focus now is on building on these connections to develop lasting partnerships and create business opportunities that benefit our tourism partners and the people of Anguilla,” Richardson said.
