This Tiny Caribbean Resort Has a Legendary Beach Bar, Luxury Villas, and Plunge Pools in Every Room

Every room has a pool.

Jost Van Dyke is the kind of island where plans are optional and swims are not. Days stretch out between the sea and the sand, interrupted by boat rides, cold drinks, and the slow drift from one beach bar to the next. You come here knowing you’ll spend most of your time in or near the water — and The Hideout is designed around that simple expectation.

This is a small beachfront resort that doesn’t try to reinvent Jost or smooth out its edges. Instead, it adds one feature that quietly upgrades the entire experience: every room comes with its own plunge pool. Not a shared pool down the path. Not a limited number of upgraded units. All seven rooms, every stay.

It means you swim more. You relax between beach stops. You end the night in the water instead of calling it early. On an island like Jost, that matters more than almost anything else.

Where You’re Staying

The Hideout is set right on the beach on Jost Van Dyke, close enough to the island’s most famous stretches of sand that you can walk to the action, but far enough that you don’t feel like you’re staying inside it. White Bay is nearby, with its steady flow of boats and easygoing energy, making it simple to dip in and out throughout the day.

This is not a sprawling resort. It’s compact, casual, and designed for guests who want everything within reach. You wake up near the water, spend the day near the water, and never have to think about logistics.

The Rooms

Every oversized room opens to its own plunge pool. That’s the headline — and it delivers – along with 1,326 square feet of living space. In other words, big rooms on a small island.

You step out of your room and into the water. No waiting, no claiming space, no planning around other guests. The plunge pools are positioned as part of the outdoor living area, so they feel like a natural extension of the room rather than a bonus feature.

The interiors are luxurious and comfortable, built for beach days. Indoor and outdoor spaces connect easily, and the pool becomes something you use again and again without even thinking about it.

What Your Day Looks Like

You might start with a swim at the beach, head back to your plunge pool to cool off, then walk down for lunch at Soggy Dollar. Maybe you drift over to Hendo’s for another round, or head toward Great Harbour later in the day for Foxy’s when the music starts to pick up.

After all, this is one of the true beach bar pilgrimage spots in the Caribbean, if not the world.

Between stops, you always have your own water waiting for you. You don’t rush. You don’t have to stay out longer than you want. You can come and go as often as you like, knowing your room — and your pool — are right there.

It’s an easy loop: beach, bar, pool, repeat. (And then a painkiller).

Why It Works On Jost Van Dyke

Jost Van Dyke is casual, social, and built around movement. The Hideout fits that perfectly. The private plunge pools just deepen the experience. A place to cool off after you chill.

You spend more time swimming. You stay out longer. You don’t feel tied to one spot or one scene. It’s a simple idea, executed in exactly the right place.

Prices at the Hideout

Rooms are about $1,000 per night, depending on the time of year or the length of your stay. But this is easily the best place to stay in Jost Van Dyke, and one of our favorite hotels in all of the BVI.

How To Get There

You’ll reach Jost Van Dyke by boat, most commonly via Tortola. From there, ferries and water taxis run directly to the island. Once you arrive, The Hideout is easy to reach and right on the beach, so you can drop your bags, kick off your shoes, and be in the water almost immediately — which is exactly how Jost is meant to be done.
