The Caribbean Tourism Organization has reaffirmed its commitment to regional unity and recovery in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, expressing solidarity with member nations affected by the storm and outlining coordinated relief efforts already underway.

In a statement issued today, the CTO said its team has been in close contact with all member states impacted by the hurricane, particularly Jamaica and Haiti.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters in Jamaica and Haiti as both nations begin the road to recovery — and together, as One Caribbean, we will rise from the storm stronger and unbroken,” the organization said.

The CTO confirmed that it remains in constant communication with tourism stakeholders across the region, as well as with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and members of the wider tourism community.

Deputy Director for Sustainable Tourism, Narendra Ramgulam, traveled to Jamaica to join the Rapid Needs Assessment Team led by CDEMA, supporting early recovery coordination on the ground.

With the support of participating states and regional and international partners, the CTO and CDEMA teams are working through the Regional Response Mechanism to assess damage, coordinate relief, and prepare a comprehensive report for the international donor community to mobilize assistance.
