Hyatt Is Opening a New Secrets Resort in Punta Cana, With Swim-Out Suites, a Rooftop Pool, and Farm-to-Table Dining
The Dominican Republic’s Macao Beach has always felt different. Wide and golden, framed by palms and the Atlantic, it has long been a favorite for surfers and locals looking for a more raw, more natural stretch of greater Punta Cana. Soon, it will be home to something entirely new — an adults-only retreat that looks to change the way travelers experience this part of the Dominican Republic.
Hyatt has announced plans for Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana, a brand-new, all-inclusive resort set to open in 2026, Caribbean Journal has learned.
Developed by GSM Investissements Dominicana S.R.L., the same group behind Dreams Macao Beach, the new-build property will bring a more elevated and sophisticated energy to one of the Caribbean’s fastest-growing resort corridors.
It will be the sister resort to the Dreams Macao Beach, a property that we called the best new resort in Punta Cana when it opened back in 2020.
A New Adults-Only Escape
The resort will debut with 406 suites, including Junior Suites, Master Suites and Presidential Suites. Among them will be 111 swim-out suites and 13 panoramic swim-out suites, offering rare high-level views directly over the Atlantic. Designed with natural aesthetics and modern elegance, the property will be a serene retreat for couples and adults seeking a refined experience.
Dining at the Source
Food will be a highlight, with nine restaurants serving flavors from around the world. A standout will be a farm-to-table restaurant inside an organic garden, serving dishes crafted with ingredients harvested steps away from the kitchen. Preferred Club members will enjoy a private restaurant with curated menus, while nine bars — from a cigar lounge to a full-service sports bar — will serve top-shelf international and Dominican spirits. We always recommend going for the Preferred Club option at Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection properties — it’s an elevated experience that’s always worth the premium.
Pools and Unlimited Luxury
Secrets Macao Beach will feature three pools: a lively activity pool, a main pool with a beach-club feel, and a rooftop infinity pool reserved for Preferred Club guests. The brand’s Unlimited-Luxury inclusions will anchor the experience, with 24-hour room service, pool and beach wait staff, daily activities, and nightly entertainment programs.
Connected to Dreams Macao Beach
The new resort will sit adjacent to Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana, giving Secrets guests free-flow access to its family-friendly neighbor. Together, the two properties will create one of the largest and most dynamic resort complexes in Punta Cana, offering dining, amenities, and entertainment across both destinations. A convention center with capacity for 1,000 guests will also make it a prime venue for weddings, conferences, and destination events.
Hyatt’s Expanding Dominican Republic Portfolio
The launch of Secrets Macao Beach continues Hyatt’s push in the Dominican Republic. Recent additions include Secrets Playa Esmeralda and Dreams Playa Esmeralda in Miches, as well as new developments in La Romana. Later this year, Hyatt will also open Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana, reinforcing the Dominican Republic as the centerpiece of its Inclusive Collection growth strategy.
How to Get to Macao Beach
Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana will be located about 40 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport, the busiest air hub in the Dominican Republic. With nonstop flights from major U.S. cities including Miami, New York, Atlanta, and Dallas, as well as routes from Canada, Europe, and Latin America, the resort will be easily accessible for international travelers. Transfers are available by taxi, private car, or shuttle along the modern highway that connects directly to Macao Beach.
