WestJet Is Adding New Nonstop Flights to the Dominican Republic This Winter
For Canadian travelers looking to escape the cold, it’s getting easier than ever to get to the Dominican Republic this winter, with a host of new flights on WestJet.
The airline is adding several new nonstop routes to top Dominican destinations for its Winter 2025-2026 schedule, expanding access to Puerto Plata, Samana, and Punta Cana.
Starting December 14, 2025, WestJet will begin weekly flights from Calgary to Puerto Plata, running through April 12, 2026. It’s the first time this connection has been offered, linking Western Canada directly to one of the Dominican Republic’s most historic beach towns.
From Montreal, travelers will have new twice-weekly service to Samana, a gateway to the Dominican Republic’s raw, tropical northeast coast. That route begins December 11, 2025, and continues through mid-April.
And from Thunder Bay, WestJet will launch weekly nonstop flights to Punta Cana, starting December 16. The seasonal service will run through April 7, giving northern Ontario a direct link to the country’s most popular beach resort corridor.
These flights are part of a larger Caribbean expansion for WestJet this winter, which includes 62 sun destinations and 305 routes system-wide. The Dominican Republic additions — along with new flights to Cozumel, Mexico — underscore the airline’s continued shift toward leisure travel and its commitment to serving more Canadians coast to coast.
Most routes will operate through early to mid-April, giving travelers a full winter season of options for long weekends or extended warm-weather getaways.
