Dominican Republic Projects Record-Breaking July for Tourism Arrivals
The Dominican Republic is on pace to surpass 800,000 arrivals in July, a figure that would mark the best July in the country’s tourism history, according to Tourism Minister David Collado.
“The country’s tourism is experiencing a strong July in terms of tourist arrivals by air,” Collado said. “We will surpass 800,000 tourists, projected to be the best July in history. This is the best time to continue investing in tourism in the Dominican Republic.”
The projected record comes amid continued growth in both air and cruise tourism to the country, following a year of sustained performance in major tourism hubs like Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and La Romana.
The milestone would build on a strong first half of 2025, during which the country welcomed more than 5.2 million visitors through June — a number officials say puts the Dominican Republic on track to meet or exceed its full-year target.
While stayover arrivals haven’t climbed significantly (a trend that seems to have changed in July), the engine of this year’s growth has been the country’s surging cruise industry.
Tourism remains the Dominican Republic’s leading economic sector, and the government has made tourism investment and development a top national priority.
