Sunwing Just Added Two More Destinations for the Winter Season: Managua and Samana

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 22, 2025 - 9:21 am

Sunwing Vacations has officially unveiled its 2025-2026 winter schedule — and it includes two new destinations for Canadian travelers looking for warm-weather escapes: Managua, Nicaragua and Samaná, Dominican Republic.

The announcement marks Sunwing’s first full winter season operating all flights onboard WestJet, a shift the company says will bring expanded route access, enhanced onboard service, and even greater value to travelers.

“Providing Canadians with accessible and affordable vacation options remains a top priority for Sunwing,” said Andrew Dawson, President of Sunwing Vacations Group. “We’re excited to unveil our winter 2025-2026 schedule featuring favourite destinations alongside the exciting new additions of Managua and Samaná.”

Both new destinations are emerging escapes for Canadians looking to go beyond the traditional sun corridor. Managua will see direct service from Montreal, while Samaná will be served from both Toronto and Montreal.

The addition of Nicaragua — known for its wild Pacific beaches, volcanic landscapes and eco-adventure appeal — adds further depth to Sunwing’s Central America portfolio. Samaná, with its quiet beaches, lush mountains and laid-back atmosphere, has long been a best-kept-secret in the Dominican Republic, and is now more accessible than ever — with booming hotel growth and a new place on the radar of international travelers.

“Building off a strong 2024-2025 winter season, this winter is our first operating with all flights on board WestJet,” Dawson said. “The enhanced connectivity allows us to bring Canadians to more destinations along with the exceptional value that Sunwing is known for.”

Sunwing is encouraging travelers to book early, as demand for winter travel continues to rise. The company’s expanded schedule also includes new and returning flights from more than 20 Canadian gateways to over 25 destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.
