The Bahamas Is Launching a Dive Week Just for Women
Drifting alongside reef sharks near Nassau, or exploring a sunken wreck from a James Bond film—all in one trip. This summer, The Bahamas is inviting women from around the world to do exactly that.
A new event in The Bahamas is making waves—this time, beneath the surface. The country is launching its first-ever Bahamas Women Dive Week, a bold new initiative celebrating women in diving with a five-day ocean adventure centered on empowerment, marine conservation, and unforgettable underwater experiences.
A new kind of dive event
Held July 18–22 in Nassau, the event coincides with PADI’s global Women’s Dive Day and will bring together divers from around the world for a curated program of reef, wreck, and shark dives, alongside cultural immersion and community engagement. Organized by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, in alongside Caradonna Adventures and Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas, the program aims to establish The Bahamas as a top destination for women divers.
“The Bahamas Women’s Dive Day Event is a powerful reflection of our national commitment to adventure tourism, and female empowerment,” said Latia Duncombe, Director General of Tourism. “As a world-class diving destination, we are honored to celebrate the women making waves in ocean conservation and underwater exploration, while showcasing the unparalleled Bahamian beauty that captivates divers both from around the globe and among our islands.”
Here are the details
Participants will enjoy a four-night stay at Breezes Bahamas (a resort we’ve called the best-value all-inclusive in Nassau) and three full days of guided diving, including a signature 2-tank shark dive and trips to iconic film locations like Thunderball and Into the Blue.
The program will be led by PADI dive master Alannah Vellacott, a Bahamian ecologist and ocean advocate, and Gabby Shepard, global dive ambassador and founder of the “Black Girl Blue World” brand promoting diversity in the diving community.

The week will also include introductory dive sessions for young Bahamian women and girls across the islands, providing early exposure to the sport and a pathway to careers in marine science, conservation, and tourism.
PADI Women’s Dive Day is the largest celebration of female divers worldwide, and with The Bahamas now hosting a dedicated multi-day program, the 2025 edition is poised to expand access and representation in ocean exploration.
In addition to the dives, the week will offer social gatherings, beachside relaxation, and cultural experiences across Nassau—from Bahamian cuisine to local heritage and music.
Packages for Bahamas Women Dive Week are now available through Caradonna Adventures.
