San Juan, Puerto Rico Is Hot for Spring Break Travel Right Now, According to Spirit Airlines

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - February 10, 2025 - 5:12 pm

San Jan, Puerto Rico is the top Caribbean destination for spring break travel right now, according to a new report from low-cost carrier Spirit.

San Juan is the fifth-most searched spring break destination for travelers looking on the company’s website, and the number one in the Caribbean — exceeding what most would have expected to have been Cancun (another troubling sign for the Mexican Caribbean destination).

Spirit has long been a major player in the Puerto Rico market, both to San Juan and Aguadilla on the western coast of the island.

The island has continued to see passenger traffic surge in recent years, with travelers drawn to its easy access and cheap hotel rates.

Spring break is many travelers’ “first vacation of the year,” Spirit’s Rana Ghosh said in a statement.

And it looks like Puerto Rico is right at the top of the list.
