This Dutch Caribbean Hotspot Is About to Get a Major New JetBlue Flight
The diving, the food scene, the lovely boutique hotels. Bonaire has been having its moment in the post-pandemic period, with record-breaking arrival numbers and a sizzling energy — far removed from its early years as an under-the-radar dive spot.
But it’s about to hit a whole new level on the travel radar, with the imminent launch of the first-ever flights on JetBlue to Bonaire.
Beginning in November, the carrier is kicking off a new twice-weekly nonstop service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Bonaire’s Flamingo Airport.
The route will be operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays, a big boost for the upcoming peak winter travel season, with a flight time of just under 5 hours each way.
It’s a significant addition for Bonaire’s efforts to attract more American travelers, particularly from the important Northeastern market.
So what will the new flights cost?
A sample itinerary booked the week after the launch is priced at around $435 in its Blue fare class. That’s a pretty good deal for a relatively long flight, especially when you compare it to what American Airlines has been charging for Miami-Bonaire flights in recent years.
