Antigua and Barbuda tourism is projecting a “record year” in tourist arrivals, buoyed by the recent Antigua and Barbuda Showcase event.

Antigua and Barbuda’s big travel trade event was a big “success,” according to the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association, which put on the annual event this past week.

The dedicated travel trade event helped boost business from the destination’s primary source markets, including the US, Canada, UK, Europe and the Caribbean.

More than 40 travel partners engaged in appointments with local suppliers in an event held at the Royalton Antigua resort.

That came alongside familiarization trips, site visits and a sunset cocktail at the legendary Sheer Rocks Antigua restaurant, long considered one of the top 10 restaurants in the Caribbean.

“The 9th edition of Showcase Antigua Barbuda has been a remarkable event for collaboration and cementing business opportunities for all our travel partners. This positions the destination to fully capitalize on the increase in airlift from all source markets for the upcoming winter season,” said Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda. “As a result, barring any unforeseen circumstances, Antigua and Barbuda should see a record year in visitor arrivals.”

This year’s event was supported by local hospitality partners including Elite Island Resorts, Blue Waters Resort & Spa, The Inn at English Harbour, Hodges Bay Resort & Spa, and Royalton CHIC.

“Having an avenue for our members to present their businesses to international travel partners is an exceptional opportunity for increasing occupancy, bookings, and overall growth for travel to our destination,” said Craig Marshall, Chairman of the Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association. “We look forward to the continued support of our travel partners for our twin islands.”
