Passenger traffic at Cancun International Airport topped 32 million travelers last year, according to newly-released data from ASUR, which manages the airport.

The airport handled 32.75 million passengers in 2023, a 7.9 percent increase compared to 2022, according to the data.

That was buoyed by more than 3 million passengers in December 2023, a 3 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The annual total included a 6.5 percent increase in international traffic to Cancun, with just under 21 million intentional passengers handled at the airport.

Cancun was the busiest airport in the wider Caribbean Basin last year by a large margin, followed by Puerto Rico’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport and Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic.

Luiz Munoz Marin International Airport is also managed by ASUR.
