It’s one of the top cruise ports in the Caribbean: Port Zante, the popular stop on the island of St Kitts.

Now one of the fastest-growing cruise destinations in the region is expecting another big years, tourism officials said this week.

St Kitts and Nevis is projecting 342 cruise ships for this year’s tourism season, according to Marsha Henderson, St Kitts’ Minister of Tourism.

“For the upcoming season, we will welcome a total of 342 cruise calls, promising an influx of visitors yearning to explore the wonders of our island and our paradise, notably, we eagerly await the arrival of the magnificent ‘Icon of the Seas’, the largest ship in the world.”

Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas is arriving on Jan. 30, with a capacity of 7,600 passengers.

But St Kitts is not just focused on mega ships.

The island is also seeing growth in small-ship cruising, which brings high-spending travelers on boutique ships.

“We have also observed an increase in luxury vessels and the presence of such luxury vessels signifies the greater spending power on the island, cementing our position as a premier tourist destination,” Henderson said.
