By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 5, 2023

The Malliouhana resort in Anguilla has named a new managing director, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The luxury resort, which was formerly under the Auberge Resorts umbrella, has tapped George Vlachopoulos to the role. It is now managed by Storey Hotel Management Group.

Vlachopoulos had been serving as the resort’s general manager for the last four years.

“I’m thrilled that I’ve been able to achieve many professional goals here with the support of an incredible team,” he said in a statement. “Malliouhana truly deserves its accolades as the most sought-after destination in the Caribbean, and I love being in a position to help showcase the best of Anguilla through the magic of this storied resort. I am excited to step into this new role and lead the team to even greater heights.”

In his new role, Vlachopoulos will “take on higher responsibilities in strategic leadership and development for Malliouhana,” according to a statement from the resort.

The plan is to help guide the resort through the “next phase of its evolution,” including the celebration of its 40th anniversary next year.

The Malliouhana was the first true luxury resort on the island when it opened its doors in 1984, in many ways paving the way for the tourism growth of the island.
