Frontier Airlines Returns to Antigua and Barbuda With Orlando Flights

By: Alexander Britell - May 15, 2023

Antigua and Barbuda is one of the biggest success stories of the Caribbean in the pandemic era, with record-breaking arrivals last year and even bigger numbers so far in 2023. Now, the twin-island destination is getting another boost with the return of ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines.

This week, Frontier announced that it would be making its official comeback to Antigua’s VC Bird International Airport, relaunching its popular route between Orlando and Antigua.

Orlando-Antigua flights are kicking off on Nov. 4, with weekly nonstop service between Orlando and Antigua

That will represent the only nonstop service from Orlando to Antigua, helping to strengthen Antigua’s growing position in the all-important Florida market.

Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez said Frontier’s relaunch to Antigua was “ “incredible news for Antigua and Barbuda, as we look at another record-breaking year in visitor numbers.”

The flights will be running through at least March 30, 2024, according to Antiguan officials.

“The return of Frontier is a culmination of the Tourism Authority’s aggressive efforts to return our airlift to pre-pandemic levels,” said Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority. “This will no doubt improve the attractiveness of Antigua and Barbuda to those passengers who tend to save on the airfare, while upgrading on their hotel product.”

Tickets for the Orlando-Antigua route are already on sale, according to Frontier, which has been expanding its Caribbean footprint at a dazzling pace in the last three years.

“Frontier is the perfect partner to broaden our airlift by offering competitive fares complemented by a strong network. I’m excited to see a significant increase in visitors from the US market.”

Frontier’s announcement comes as Antigua is enjoying its first-ever Restaurant Week, a 14-day culinary event that is shining the spotlight on the country’s vibrant dining scene. The event runs through May 21.
