Wyndham Alltra to Open First Dominican Republic All-Inclusive

By: Alexander Britell - March 13, 2023

The new Wyndham Alltra brand is opening its first-ever all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The new Wyndham Alltra Samana will be opening its doors in the third quarter of this year, managed by Playa Hotels and Resorts.

The hotel is a rebranding and renovation, representing the fourth Wyndham Alltra property, and the first outside of Mexico. The brand’s other resorts are in Playa del Carmen, Cancun and the Riviera Nayarit.

The resort will have 404 rooms in the increasingly popular Samana peninsula of the Dominican Republic.

“We are pleased to continue the growth of the Wyndham Alltra brand and are excited to launch a new property in a fast-growing region of the Dominican Republic,”said Fernando Mulet, chief investment officer at Playa Hotels and Resorts. “Many developers are beginning to hear about Samaná, and we’re excited to support the awareness of this desirable destination with the opening of this new resort.”

The renovation will be done to “align with Alltra standards,” Playa said in a statement.

It will focus on main common areas, food and beverage outlets and the property’s 404 rooms.

Playa said the hotel was designed to cater to the “upper-midscale” hotel segment.

The rebrand “will ensure guests enjoy upscale food and beverage, services, amenities, and activities with an expressive local flavor at an exceptional value,” according to Playa.

Playa has not revealed which resort is being rebranded, although given the size and location it likely that it’s the 400-room Grand Paradise all-inclusive in Samana. That has not yet been confirmed, however.

Playa continues to grow its Caribbean-Mexico all-inclusive portfolio, which now includes brands like Hyatt Ziva and Zilara, Hilton All-Inclusive, Jewel Resorts and Marriott’s Luxury Collection, among others.
