Barbados to Host Caribbean Travel Marketplace in 2023

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 21, 2023 - 4:14 pm

The Caribbean’s biggest travel conference is coming to Barbados this spring, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace conference will be held in Barbados May 9-11, 2023.

The annual event, which was held last year in Puerto Rico, brings together buyers and sellers from around the world.

It is the first time the event has ever been held in Barbados.

“CHTA has a very strong relationship with both public and private sector stakeholders in Barbados, and as we position the region’s top earner for robust growth this year, we are delighted to lock arms with our Bajan partners to drive business to the Caribbean,” said Nicola Madden-Greig, president of the CHTA.

This year will be the 41st edition of the event.

“We are honored to host such a preeminent gathering of tourism stakeholders from around the world,” said Minister Gooding-Edghill, who believes the meeting aligns with Barbados’ value offerings, which appeal, among others, to the very important MICE market.

This year’s Marketplace will be headquartered at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in Barbados.

“Our private sector partners, together with the BTMI and the Ministry of Tourism and Transport, are keen to showcase Barbados’ exceptional product and experiences and we cannot wait to welcome you to our island home,” said Renée Coppin, Chairman of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association.
