The Newest Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Just Set an All-Time Record

It has not yet even hit the water yet, but Royal Caribbean’s new Icon of the Seas cruise ship already has a place in history. 

The new ship, which just revealed its first look earlier this week, reported the single-largest booking day in the company’s 53-year history when Icon reservations opened up. 

“The enthusiasm and excitement for Icon are undeniable in more ways than one,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “”The incredible response we have received from our loyal guests, vacationers new to cruising, crew members and travel partners continues to come in, and this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to share more of what Icon has in store in the coming months.”

Icon of the Seas will be sailing out of PortMiami with a mix of seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. 

Every one of those cruises will include a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island in The Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Berry Islands.

Other stops will include ports like Cozumel, Mexico; Basseterre, St Kitts; and Philipsburg, St Maarten. 

The new ship, which will include 28 different room categories, expands on Royal’s popular “neighborhood” concept, with eight different neighborhoods ranging from the new Chill Island to the water-focused Thrill Island.
