Bermuda Projecting Surge in Visitors

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - April 22, 2022

Bermuda is seeing strong tourism numbers after two years of low demand that crippled the destination’s tourism industry.

Buoyed by the upcoming SailGP events in May, the island is projecting stellar occupancy and a surge in visitors in the coming months, according to Charles Jeffers II, CEO of Bermuda Tourism.

“We haven’t seen this kind of occupancy in years, and it looks to remain strong throughout the summer,” he said.

SailGP is the first in a series of events slated for Bermuda this year, followed by the Clipper Around the World race in mid-June and the popular Triple Crown Billfish Championship in July.

In October, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship returns, followed by Black Golfers Week.

Bermuda’s Carnival is also back this year, set for June 17-20.

“This is vital to our economic recovery,” said Wayne Caines, chairman of the board at the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
