Antigua and Barbuda Courts Travelers in the Middle East

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - February 20, 2022

A high-level delegation from Antigua and Barbuda visited the United Arab Emirates this week to “deepen connections between the two countries and showcase the allure of the destination,” according to a statement.

That included a series of events across the UAE this week, including a culinary masterclass by Antiguan and Barbuda Chef Lejorn Hill, who is the executive chef at Dubai’s Paramount Hotel.

That’s along with a fashion show by some of the country’s top female fashion designers and artists and a panel discussion on tourism at the country’s Expo 2020 Dubai Pavilion.

The panel was led by Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority CEO Colin C. James, along with Patrice Simon, executive director of the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association.

“There is undoubtedly a strong synergy between what we offer as a destination, and what visitors from the region are looking for when it comes to travel experiences,” James said. “We have a lot to offer the mid to the upper end of the market and know how to cater for a discerning clientele, which is important when welcoming affluent travelers from this region, as they are typically very well-traveled and expect exceptional service and experiences.”
