St Croix Set for President’s Day Weekend Music Event

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - February 15, 2022

St Croix will play host to a new music event on President’s Day Weekend.

It’s called Fete.Vibe.Soca, and it will be headlined by Trinidad and Tobago soca star Nadia Batson and her all-female band.

The outdoor event takes place Sunday, Feb. 20 at the Frederiksted Pier, lasting from 7 PM to 1 AM, with a lineup that also includes Virgin Islands stars Cool Session Brass, VIO International and DJ Big Kyat.

“So long I ain’t see you,” USVI Division of Festivals Director Ian Turnbull said announcing the event, one of the first music events of its kind since the onset of the pandemic.

The USVI has been at the forefront of post-pandemic event innovation, led by the USVI Commission of Tourism and the Division of Festivals, which has set an example for the region with a series of socially-distanced, safe events, many of which have helped promote vaccination in the territory.

“We have been a leader in the Caribbean throughout the pandemic, not only in terms of tourism arrivals and spending, but also with regard to protecting lives and livelihoods,” said USVI Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte.

““We want Virgin Islanders and visitors to the Territory to be able to experience the spirit and vibe of festival in a safe, festive environment,” Turnbull said.
