Princess Cruises has taken delivery of its newest ship, the highly-anticipated Discovery Princess.
The ship was delivered in a ceremony this week at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy.
It’s the 15th MedallionClass ship for Princess, with capacity for 3,660 guests.
The ship is the sixth and final “Royal-class” ship for the company, featuring new culinary options, Broadway-style shows and what Princess calls the “largest balconies at sea” in its Sky Suites.
Princess’ MedallionClass gives guests a wearable, quarter-sized device that enables contactless boarding, locating loved ones and enhanced services, among other features.
“We extend our immense gratitude to our long-time and trusted partners at Fincantieri, the shipbuilders of all six of our Royal-Class vessels with Discovery Princess and look forward to welcoming our first guests to experience the beauty of the ship when they embark in just a few weeks,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises.
The ship’s regional cruises will kick off in Los Angeles, with sailings on the Mexican Riviera.
