Sun Country Airlines is adding a new destination in the Caribbean: Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands.

The low-cost carrier has announced plans to launch new nonstop flights from Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport to Grand Cayman’s Owen Roberts International Airport.

The new service is slated to begin on Dec. 18, with weekly service on Saturdays.

The Cayman Islands remains closed to tourism, although that is likely to change in the next quarter or two.

It’s part of a broader Caribbean expansion for the carrier in Minneapolis that includes new flights to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos.

That route is also scheduled to launch on Dec. 18.
