US Virgin Islands Seeing Surge in Travel Demand

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - November 4, 2020

Travel demand is surging for the United States Virgin Islands, according to a new report from travel insurance company Squaremouth.

Based on all travel insurance policies booked on the site through Oct. 19 for all future travel, the USVI saw an increase of more than 200 percent compared to the same period last year.

“The analysis from Squaremouth.com corroborates not only the findings of Travelzoo’s survey of American travelers in August, which showed that the Territory is the destination those travelers would most like to visit in the Caribbean over the next two years, but it also lines up with our observations and key indicators of exceptionally strong demand from the U.S. mainland for travel to the USVI,” said Joseph Boschulte, Commissioner of the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism.

The US Virgin Islands is currently open for tourism. You can find more on the destination’s entry protocols for travelers here

This month, a number of carriers are expected to ramp up their air service to the USVI.
