Carnival Is Adding Another Cruise Ship in Galveston

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 15, 2019

Carnival Cruise Line is adding another new cruise ship in Galveston, the company said this week.

Carnival will be adding its Carnival Radiance ship to Texas in May 2021, joining three other ships that will be homeported in Galveston all year round.

Radiance will join Carnival Breeze, Carnival Dream and Carnival Vista.

The four ships will combine to carry around 900,000 cruise passengers each year from Galveston, the most of any cruise line.

“Carnival is already the most popular cruise line from Galveston attracting vacationers from all across the Southwest and beyond. With these enhancements, we’re providing our guests with more voyages, more destinations and more choices from Texas than ever before,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Carnival Radiance will be sailing cruises to the Caribbean ranging from five to 14 days, beginning May 14, 2021.

The ship will be undergoing a $200 million renovation project next year that will add all of Carnival’s newest cruise ship concepts, from Guy Fieri’s Guy’s Pig and Anchor smokehouse to the first Big Chicken eatery by Shaquille O’Neal.

“As North America’s fourth busiest cruise port, the Port of Galveston is pleased to welcome the Carnival Radiance. Since Carnival made Galveston its homeport almost 20 years ago, more than 7.5 million Carnival Cruise Line passengers have embarked from our wharves,” said Rodger Rees, Galveston Wharves CEO and Port Director. “As we grow, we’ll continue to focus on delivering great service to Carnival and its passengers.”
