St Maarten’s all-important cruise sector continues to surge, according to the latest numbers released this week by Port St Maarten.

The top-level Caribbean port reported close to 1.1 million cruise passenger arrivals between January and July 2019, across a total of 373 cruise ship calls.

That included more than 650,000 visits across 264 cruise vessels in the first quarter of 2019.

In a statement, Port St Maarten officials said they expected the destination to receive more than 1.5 million cruise passenger arrivals by the end of the year.

Destination St. Maarten has maintained its competitive edge through continual research and development and strategic planning and the key partnerships with the cruise industry, stakeholders and leading players,” the Port said in a statement.
