La Collecion Resorts, best known for its large portfolio of properties in Mexico, is expanding in Punta Cana.

The brand’s parent company, Posadas, has announced plans to open its first Live Aqua-branded beach resort in Punta Cana.

The new Live Aqua Resort Punta Cana, which will be set on the northern coast of Uvero Alto in greater Punta Cana, is slated to make its debut in March 2020.

“We are very excited to bring the adults-only Live Aqua experience to the Dominican Republic,” explained Jose Carlos Azcárraga, CEO of Posadas, which is one of Mexico’s biggest hotel companies. “Every Live Aqua resort brings its unique character to the location it’s in, while always delivering on the signature elements our loyal guests have come to know and love. This property will be no different, offering a new experience for the millions of visitors the island welcomes every year.”

The resort will have a total of 345 suites across seven categories, from swim-up suites to ocean-view rooms, along with a select group of suites that will feature their own private plunge pools.

The hotel’s amenities will also include an infinity pool, a “Feel Harmony Spa,” a fitness center and seven dining concepts created by Mexican Chef Gerardo Rivera.

This will be the first Live Aqua-branded resort in the Dominican Republic, yet another new project in what is easily the Caribbean’s hottest hotel development market, the product of a concerted push by Dominican tourism officials in recent years.
