One of the Caribbean’s top cruise ports is expanding.

St Kitts’ Port Zante has reached 90 percent completion of a major second cruise pier, according to St Kitts Public Infrastructure Minister Ian Patches Liburd.

“The dredging works are completed … the padding works I am advised are 100 percent complete and all concrete works are 85 percent complete. The water supply lines are installed, and I am also advised that the pier construction is 90 percent complete,” Liburd said during a briefing this week.

The government has pegged Sept. 23 for the completion of the new pier.

The $48 million cruise pier will be a major boon to what has been one of the fastest growing cruise ports in the region in recent years.
