After a what was a blistering 2018, Belize’s tourism sector has seen another strong year so far in 2019.

The destination is reporting a 6 percent jump in stayover tourist arrivals for the first half of 2019, with a total of 284,576 visitors in the period, according to new data from the Belize Tourist Board.

On the cruise side, Belize reported approximately 700,000 cruise passenger visits, itself a 10.8 percent increase over the same period in 2018.

The latest statistics for the first half of this year show a remarkable and persistent growth in both overnight and cruise ship arrivals,” the Belize Tourist Board said in a statement.

The organization said the growth was “positioning Belize as a favorite vacation paradise, underscoring the effective marketing strategy by the BTB and its industry stakeholders in promoting the country as a leading tourism destination.”
