The latest chapter in St Maarten’s inspiring tourism comeback? A new hotel on the way.

It’s called The Morgan Resort, Spa and Village, and it’s targeting a late 2019 debut on the shores of St Maarten’s Simpson Bay.

The sleek, high-design resort will have a total of 124 rooms and suites, along with a “sand-edge” infinity pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a full-service spa, among other features.

And then there are the rooms, arguably the centerpiece of the hotel, crisp, high-tech, plush units with spa-inspired showers and luxury amenities.

Culinary offerings will be helmed by celebrity Chef Ron Duprat (long one of the Caribbean’s leading chefs and well known for appearing on Top Chef as well); the property will also have a bar-lounge emphasizing fine wines and spirits.

It’s set on one of the most iconic spots on the island, adjacent to the famous Sunset Beach Bar and St Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport, on the former site of the Alegria resort.

It’s a major addition to St Maarten and part of what is a new kind of contemporary design aesthetic on the island (from the Sonesta Ocean Point and Maho to the new Roxxy Beach Bar), part of the reinvigorated St Maarten 2.0.

St Maarten is back and better than ever, and this is just the latest example, a high-level property that should inject even more energy to to St Maarten.
