Carnival Cruise Line has revealed the first look at its highly-anticipated new Mardi Gras ship.

The ship, named as a nod to the line’s first ship in 1972, has already launched construction.

The 20-deck ship, which will be powered by liquefied natural gas, will have more than 20 stateroom categories, along with six different “zones,” from Grand Central, a three-deck-high atrium, to the French Quarter, lined with bars, live music and food.

The “Summer Landing” will have Guy Fieri’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, along with a pool, whirlpools and a new bar.

That’s along with the Ultimate Playground, which will feature the most elaborate aqua park in the company’s fleet.

“When our guests Choose Fun and book a vacation on Mardi Gras, they are going to find many firsts and exciting experiences, all enhanced by the fun atmosphere our great Carnival crew deliver on every cruise,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.  “We’ve specifically designed Mardi Gras to invite everyone to create their own personalized fun vacation experience with options to suit every age, mood or taste.”

Carnival Mardi Gras is slated to make its debut in 2020.
