Antigua Tourism Getting a Boost from Italy

Antigua and Barbuda is set for a big jump in arrivals from Italy.

The twin-island destination will be receiving nearly 6,000 new visitors from Italy in 2019, as a result of a new alliance with Vera Tour, which has now launched operations in Antigua.

A Blue Panorama charter flight will be bringing 120 Italian passengers every week as a part of the Vera Tour alliance, according to Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez.

Most of these travelers will be staying at the recently-rebranded Starfish Jolly Beach Resort, which has 75 rooms booked each week for them.

Vera Tour is “excited and sure that all of the visitors will be satisfied and that the number of guaranteed visitors will increase over the next year,” said Marco Capitani, product director for Vera Tour.

Italy is the second-largest European market for Antigua and Barbuda. officials said.
