The ever-expanding Margaritaville brand has opened another resort in the Caribbean Basin.

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Beach Resort Playa Flamingo celebrated its opening in Costa Rica with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week.

The debut comes after a multimillion-dollar transformation and rebranding project at the property.

“Today is an exciting day for Margaritaville Beach Resort Playa Flamingo – one we’ve been anticipating for quite some time, and we are thrilled to officially welcome Margaritaville to Costa Rica in the best way possible, with food, drinks, and fun,” said Pedro D’oñas, general manager of Margaritaville Beach Resort Playa Flamingo.

The 120-room destination resort is located on a Blue Flag Certified ecological beach in the Guanacaste Province in Costa Rica, minutes from some of the area’s attractions.

“It’s an honor to welcome travelers from near and far to the new Margaritaville Beach Resort Playa Flamingo,” said Carlos J. Rodriguez, Chairman & CEO of Driftwood Acquisitions & Development, which owns the resort. “We’re proud to have overseen the successful renovation and rebranding of the resort and are confident it will make a great addition to Costa Rica’s booming hospitality scene.”

Margaritaville Beach Resort Playa Flamingo debuted under the Margaritaville brand with several new signature restaurant concepts, updated guestrooms, a completely redesigned lobby, a refreshed exterior, and new activities for kids and adults.

The Guanacaste resort features 120 guest rooms with what the brand calls “casual-luxe décor that transports guests into a vacation state of mind.”

Amenities include a water sports center with equipment rentals, a spa, lighted tennis courts, and a family center that includes foosball, ping-pong, and a movie theater screening the latest movies in Spanish and English. The resort also has 3,264 square feet of event space.

The resort also has three outdoor pools including one with a swim-up License to Chill Bar, a children’s pool and an activity pool.

The new Costa Rica outpost is the latest in Margaritaville’s regional portfolio, which now includes resorts in Grand Cayman and Costa Rica, along with vacation clubs in Puerto Rico and St Thomas.

Another Margaritaville is in the works in Nassau at the Pointe development, a $250 million project.
