Spirit’s Caribbean expansion continues to speed up, with two new routes coming to the island of Puerto Rico.

Beginning Feb. 14, the carrier will launch new daily nonstop routes from both Tampa International Airport and Baltimore-Washington International Airport to San Juan.

The new comes a few weeks after Spirit launched a new route from Orlando to Aguadilla.

“We are so proud to have been serving Puerto Rico since 2001, and we are thrilled to be expanding here again,” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning.  “We believe these new routes from Tampa and Baltimore will provide greater convenience to our Guests with more low fare, nonstop flights.”

Both of the new routes will operate daily, complementing existing daily flights to San Juan from both Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.

“Spirit’s announced route expansion is advantageous both for visitors and local passengers, as it provides a greater frequency of flights with new schedule options. It also facilitates access to the island for groups and conventions,” said Agustín Arellano, CEO of Aerostar Puerto Rico, which manages Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport.  “The more flights we have, the closer we get Puerto Rico to other destinations and the more attractive we are to visitors.”
