How to Buy Two Cays in The Bahamas

What’s better than your own private island? Two private islands.

And that’s precisely the offering of Bahamas real estate brokerage HG Christie, which has the listing on a pair of sun-soaked cays in the Berry Islands of The Bahamas, about 35 miles to the northwest of Nassau.

The $26 million listing includes both Frozen Cay and Alder Cay, which together combine for more than 85 acres of beach-filled real estate — including a natural bird sanctuary.

For the uninitiated, the Berry Islands are a tiny archipelago with some of the Bahamas’ most beautiful beaches, anchored by the island of Great Harbour Cay, once a world-renowned destination and now a bit of a secret for intrepid beach lovers.

Both islands are accessible by seaplane or private boat.

But they’re not empty.

Frozen Cay already boasts a six-bedroom, six-bathroom, 4,145-square-foot private home, with everything from a large kitchen to a heated swimming pool, along with a manager’s cottage with four bedrooms of its own.

Frozen Cay also has its own small marina that can accommodate yachts of up to 100 feet.

Alder Cay, which has its own five-care lagoon, has a staff house with three bedrooms and a fishing camp with seven individual units.

That means you get the exclusivity of your own private cays, without having to go through the work of starting on an empty canvas.

According to HG Christie, the islands are also “serviced by full utility/communications systems, service/support building including 2 diesel generators, fuel tanks, freshwater production facilities and water cisterns.” In other words, they’re ready for you.
